SUPPORT THE CHILDREN
What is it?
WHAT IS IT?
The children’s shopping tour is an annual event, sponsored by local organizations, churches, businesses, and individuals, which aims to provide Christmas to local families. The object of this project is for children to have a Christmas of significance and to experience the joy of giving at Christmas.
HOW IT WORKS
Each year volunteers are responsible for taking children shopping for their family at Walmart. The children then purchase gifts with funds raised by the Shopping Tour. After shopping, the children and the volunteers return to the Optimist Club to wrap gifts, eat lunch, visit Santa, and hear the message of the “Reason for the Season” prior to being returned to their homes with the gifts they purchased.

Our mission is to teach children the joy of giving. Each year we take between 50-100 children Christmas shopping for their families. For many, this is the first time they experience the joy of giving at Christmas.
